What is a podcast?
A podcast is a series of audio episodes about a particular topic. But unlike radio shows, you don’t have to listen at a specific time; instead, you download them onto your smartphone and listen whenever you wish…for free!
You will need an internet connection to download podcast episodes. You can download and listen to podcasts on both iPhone and Android phones through many different podcast apps; the instructions below are for the standard, built-in apps.
How to listen on an iPhone
iPhones come with a Podcast app installed. The logo looks like this:
If you can’t find it, download it again for free from the App Store.
Open the app, and on the bottom right tap“Search”. Type in “Talkin’ Birds” and tap “Search”.
Tap our logo.
You will see this on your screen:
From here you can tap on each Recent Episode to play it, or tap the “Details” button for a summary of the episode. If you tap the “Subscribe” button, your phone will automatically download new episodes as they become available. You can easily find them if you tap “Library”. You can unsubscribe just as easily (but we hope you’ll stay!).
How to listen on an Android phone
Download the Podcast Player app from the Play Store. It looks like this:
Tap “Install”. Wait for it to install, then tap “Open”.
Select three categories that you’re interested in. (This is just so the app can offer you podcast suggestions.) Tap “Next”.
On the top right is a magnifying glass for Search. Tap it, then tap the word “Search” in the search bar. Type “Talkin’ Birds” (without quotation marks). Tap the magnifying glass on the bottom right of the screen to search.
Tap our show’s logo. It will take you to this screen below on the right.
Tap each Episode to play it. If you tap the “Subscribe” button, your phone will automatically download new episodes as they become available. You can unsubscribe just as easily (but we hope you’ll stay!).
How to listen on an Alexa device
Just say, “Alexa: play the podcast Ray Brown’s Talkin’ Birds.”
